The Colombian Women National Team for the Southamerican Championship has been named, Luis Miguel Cuenca is again the National coach ,trying to put back the national team among the top three of the continent he has been leading the process during the last 6 years, starting in the 2010 with a bronze medal in Chile, and reaching the semifinals in the Panamerican Games at Guadalajara 2011, Colombia is currently ranked 47 in the FIBA ranking for Women despite not playing in Ecuador 2014.
The list is a mix of some veterans leaded by the first Colombian drafted in the WNBA, 37 years old Levys Torres (193-C-78, college: Florida St.), the guard Mabel Martinez who has leaded the team in scoring in the 2013 with 13 ppg, and the guard Monica Palacios, among the new generation are the pivot Tathiana Mosquera (196-C/F-89) (1,97 - C) who had 12,6 ppg and 6 rpg in the last National team competition, actually Mosquera should be the team leader at both sides of the hardwood, the younger promises of the team are the talented forward Maria Delgado (96) who is getting her second call to the major National Team, Camila Tapias (168-PG) who is playing at George Washington in the NCAA averaging 1ppg and 0,5 rpg, Manuela Rios also entering for the first time the absolute National team and Luz Cordoba.

With an 1,78 height average and 25 years old the Colombian team will have enough size to battle the boards and experienced guard to handle the time, the team has been working for some weeks and since most of the players belongs to the Antioquia league under Luis Miguel Cuenca 's coaching the chemistry is almost guaranteed.
Four players to follow, the youngest ladies: Maria Delgado a skilled scorer a fearless and smart forward , Camila Tapias still developing his game in the NCAA has the foundamentals and the tools to be one of the key players in the future, Manuela Rios good shooter and excellent ball handler that should become soon in the playmaker of the team and Adriana Cordoba, long and athletic rebounder that can develop his skills to fill the 4 and even the 3 spot in the future.
Colombia is already inserted in the Group A of the SouthAmerican, sharing the group with Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, the National team has real chances to fight for a place in the semifinals, Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela are the top favourites.
