Group AUruguay - Brazil 42-115Brazil tipped off their title defence in Barquisimeto with a convincing victory. The defending champions knocked down Uruguay in Group A. Nadia Colhado (193-C-89) finished with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists to pace the winners. Brazil led from start to finish in this one. They opened a comfortable 57:20 halftime lead. Brazil followed with a 58:22 second half rally to ice the victory. Patty Ribeiro (176-G/F-90) contributed 19 points off the bench. Florencia Sergio (188-F/C-96) replied with 7 points for Uruguay. Chile - Colombia 38-79 Colombia ensured a strong start to their South American Championship campaign. They knocked down Chile in Group A opener. Mabel Martinez (180-F-86) stepped up with 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the winners. Colombia jumped to an early lead. They established a 41:14 halftime lead. Colombia never looked back afterwards cruising to the victory. Jenifer Munoz (170-G-91) and Maria Palacios (163-G-85) had 13 points each for the winners. Tatiana Gomez (192-C-81) answered with 10 points for Chile. |
