Group AColombia - Brazil 55-76Brazil cruised past Colombia to improve at 3-0 record in Group A. Iziane Castro (182-G/F-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) sank 22 points to lead the tournament's favourites. Brazil raced off to a comfortable 35:22 halftime advantage. Brazil never looked back en route to the winning side. Nadia Colhado (193-C-89) provided 15 points and 11 rebounds for the defending champions. Tathiana Mosquera (196-C/F-89) responded with 12 points for Colombia. Chile - Paraguay 69-83 Paraguay earned the second straight victory in Barquisimeto. They knocked down Chile to stay perfect in Group A. Maria Mercado (162-PG-89) posted 24 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the winners. Paraguay claimed a 49:35 halftime lead. They boosted the gap at 20-point mark at the final intermission. Chile cut the deficit in the final stanza but could not avoid the defeat. Tamara Insfran (175-G/F-89, college: Cumberland) had 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Tatiana Gomez (192-C-81) responded with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss. Group BEcuador - Venezuela 46-91Venezuela stayed on the winning track in Barquisimeto. The hosts outscored Ecuador for 2-0 record in Group B. Waleska Perez (180-SG-94, college: Weatherford JC) stepped up with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Venezuela marched to a 25:10 lead after ten minutes. The hosts went on a 25:6 run in the third term to clear off for good. Dianora Rivas (164-PG-90) tossed in 12 points for the home side. Dayanna Salcedo (177-F/G-89) responded with 14 points for Ecuador. Argentina - Peru 89-15 Argentina thumped Peru to gain 2-0 record in Group B. Sthefany Thomas (175-F/G-89, college: Clemson) stepped up with 15 points to lead the winners. Argentina dominated from start to finish. They established a massive 48:7 halftime advantage. Argentina kept Peru scoreless in the third term and breezed to the victory. Andrea Boquete (183-F/C-90) tossed in 14 points for the winners. Ana Farfan (165-PG-93) replied with 5 points for Peru. |
