Group AParaguay - Colombia 58-92Colombia knocked down Paraguay to improve at 2-1 record in Group A. Tathiana Mosquera (196-C/F-89) delivered 23 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Colombia stayed in charge throughout the first half. They accumulated a 43:25 halftime advantage. Colombia followed with a 29:11 rally in the fourth quarter to ice the win. Mabel Martinez (180-F-86) had 19 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds for the winners. Maria Mercado (162-PG-89) and Tamara Insfran (175-G/F-89, college: Cumberland) answered with 14 points each for Paraguay. Uruguay - Chile 53-68 Chile fired past Uruguay to gain the first victory in Barquisimeto. Tatiana Gomez (192-C-81) came up with 19 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Chile recorded a 37:27 halftime advantage. Chile secured an 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and never looked back en route to the victory. Javiera Morales (178-G-92) notched 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Maria Pereyra (171-G-86) responded with 22 points for Uruguay. Group BVenezuela - Argentina 71-67 OTVenezuela overcame Argentina in overtime to secure the top place finish in Group B. Ivaney Marquez (177-SF-83, college: Grayson County CC) tossed in 23 points to pace the hosts. Argentina built a 36:25 halftime advantage. But Venezuela responded with a 26:14 run in the third term to surge ahead. Argentina limited Venezuela to just 9 points in the fourth stanza to force overtime. However the home side went on an 11:7 surge in the extra period to remain undefeated. Waleska Perez (180-SG-94, college: Weatherford JC) connected for 15 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists in the win. Gisela Vega (188-C-82) responded with 22 points and 13 rebounds for Argentina. Ecuador - Peru 85-57 Ecuador cruised past Peru to open win count at the tournament. Dayanna Salcedo (177-F/G-89) provided 16 points to pace the winners. Ecuador raced off to a 47:30 halftime advantage. Ecuador kept Peru at bay throughout the second half and marched to the victory. Marjorie Caicedo (180-F-90) delivered 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Ana Farfan (165-PG-93) answered with 18 points for Peru. |
