Group ABrazil - Paraguay 128-35Brazil stayed undefeated in Barquisimeto. They stormed past Paraguay to finish on top of Group A. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners. Patty Ribeiro (176-G/F-90) stepped up with 19 points for Brazil. They unleashed 71 points in the first half to gain a comfortable 48-point lead. Brazil never looked back afterwards marching to a well-deserved victory. Palmira Marcal (176-G-84), Nadia Colhado (193-C-89) and Kelly Santos (192-C-79, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 17 points each in the win. Astrid Huttemann (180-F-92, college: Union, TN) responded with 11 points for Paraguay. Colombia - Uruguay 83-42 Colombia cruised past Uruguay to improve at 3-1 record in the second position in Group A. Therefore they clinched the semifinal appearance. Maria Paz Delgado led the winners with 23 points. Colombia rallied to a 34:18 halftime lead. They followed with a strong 22:8 run in the third quarter to open a comfortable advantage and never looked back en route to the win. Tathiana Mosquera (196-C/F-89) delivered 9 points for the winners. Maria Pereyra (171-G-86) repsonded with 11 points for Uruguay. |
