Brazil recorded a 34:25 halftime lead. They went on a massive 43:17 run in the second half to seal the win. Raphaella Monteiro (181-F-95) had 12 points for the winners. Ivaney Marquez (181-SF-83, college: Grayson County CC) replied with 11 points for Venezuela.
Paraguay - Chile 73-66
Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN, agency: ProDep Management) nailed 33 points to lead Paraguay past Chile in the first game at the tournament. Chile recorded a comfortable 40:32 halftime lead. But Paraguay turned things around in the third term. Paola Ferrari ignited a 23:8 run from Paraguay as they ensured a 7-point lead heading into the fourth frame. Paraguay hung on to the lead throughout the final period and raced to the win. Maria Caraves (169-G-92) had 15 points for the winning side. Ziomara Morrison (194-C-89) replied with 25 points and 14 rebounds for Chile.

Argentina - Ecuador 74-41
Argentina knocked down Ecuador to take 1-0 record in Tunja. Andrea Boquete (183-SF-90) scored 12 points to lead well-balanced effort. Argentina established a 41:22 halftime lead. They went on a 33:19 rally in the second half to breeze to the win. Ornella Santana (180-F/C-90) had 11 points for the winning side. Maria Mogollon (184-F/C-95) answered with 7 points for Ecuador.
Peru - Colombia 28-84
Colombia thumped Peru in the opening game. The hosts opened the game on a stunning 26:1 run. They outscored the visitors in each of the next three quarters to coast to the victory. Mayra Caicedo (162-PG-00) chipped in 17 points for Colombia. Manuela Rios (165-G-97) and Narlyn Mosquera (197-F/C-89) added 10 points each for the winners. Veronica Escudero (173-SF-01) netted 7 points for Peru.
