Paraguay - Venezuela 81-73
Paraguay toppled Venezuela to reach the semifinal stage. Paraguay grabbed a 22:9 lead after ten minutes. Venezuela cut the deficit in the next quarters but could not avoid the loss. Paola Ferrari (178-G/F-85, college: Union, TN, agency: ProDep Management) scored 29 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Paraguay. Tamara Insfran (175-G/F-89, college: Cumberland) added 16 points for the winners. Ivaney Marquez (181-SF-83, college: Grayson County CC) answered with 21 points for Venezuela.
Brazil - Chile 99-66
Brazil cruised past Chile to improve at 3-0 record in Group A. Brazil sank 50 points in the first half to gain a 15-point halftime lead. They added 49 points after the big break to march to the win. Izabella Sangalli (184-SF-95) contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds for Brazil. Tatiana Gomez (192-C-81) netted 16 points and collected 9 rebounds for Chile.
Group B
Colombia - Argentina 61-67
Argentina held off Colombia for the third straight win in Tunja. Colombia stayed dominant in the first half. They ensured a 30:23 halftime lead. But Argentina went on a 27:15 rally in the fourth quarter to snatch the victory. Agostina Burani (186-F/C-91) delivered 17 points, while Macarena Rosset (178-G/F-91) added 15 points in the victory. Mabel Martinez (180-F-86) answered with 14 points for Colombia.
Ecuador - Peru 58-51
Ecuador rolled past Peru to open win count in Group B. Ecuador used an 18:5 run in the second term to take a 31:19 halftime lead. Peru tied things up at 38 heading into the fourth quarter. Ecuador though sank 20 points in the final term and raced to the win. Dayanna Salcedo (176-C/F-89) chipped in 15 points, while Marjorie Caicedo (180-PF-90) had 13 points in the victory. Ana Farfan (165-PG-93) replied with 27 points for Peru.
