Puerto Rico escaped with the narrow win over US Virgin Islands 76-73 in AmeriCup 2022. They started with a 21-7 surge at the start of the game, but could not win any other quarter of the game. United States Virgin Islands replied with a 26-24 rally in the second period and won the third quarter 19-15. Moreover, they came close with a 21-16 run in the last stanza, however could not win the game.
Ismael Romero (205-C-1991, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up with 23 points and Tremont Waters (180-PG-1998, college: LSU) delivered 17. Alfonso Plummer (185-G-1997, college: Illinois) followed them with 10 points in the winning effort. Amir Nesbitt (185-G-2001) answered with 26 points in a loss and Georgio Milligan (188-PG-1990, college: F&M) produced 13.
