Chile pip United States Virgin Islands in Americas Olympic Pre-Qualifiers opener. Chile survived a 62-61 win as Alejandro Vergara nailed a three-pointer to seal the win.
Chile started with an 18-17 run and led 9 points at the halftime. United States Virgin Islands tied it all at the end of the third quarter after a 22-13 surge, however Chile managed to grab a narrow win. Nicolas Carvacho (211-F/C-1997, college: Colorado St.) gave his side 59-58 lead, whilst Alejandro Vergara scored for 62-61.
Nicolas Carvacho top-scored for the winners with 23 points and Ignacio Varela brought 12. Jahsean Corbett (198-G-2002) nailed 22 in return, whilst LaRon Smith (205-F-1993, college: Auburn, agency: Helping Ballers) and Guy Ragland Jr. (203-F) had 10 apiece.
