Olympic Pre-Qualifiers: Uruguay advanced to the Semifinals despite the loss to US Virgin Islands

Uruguay - United States Virgin Islands 65:69

The United States Virgin Islands overcame Uruguay 69-65 to create three-win tie in the pool with Uruguay and Columbia for second place. It was Uruguay with a better difference to clinch the spot in the semis. Uruguay started with a 16-13 run and won also the third quarter. United States Virgin Islands on the other side won the second period 22-16 and closed the game with a 22-17 rally to seal the win.
Miguel Arnold (178-PG-1998, agency: Interperformances) led the way for the Virgin Islands men scoring 14 points. Romani Hansen (203-F-1997, college: Albany) added 12 points and snagged 7 rebounds for the winners. Emiliano Serres (205-F-1997, agency: Pro Sports) replied with 16 points in a loss and Joaquin Rodriguez (199-F-2003) had 11.
