Al Ahly Tripoli (D1) has signed experienced 37-year-old Puerto Rican-U.S. Virgin Islands 183cm point guard Walter Hodge, who played college basketball at Florida. Hodge is the second import player on the team, with EGY Anas Mahmoud signing earlier. Hodge began the season with Homentmen in the Lebanese LBL league, where he averaged an impressive 16.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.6apg, and 2.8spg in 9 games. During the summer, he played for Cangrejeros in the Puerto Rican BSN league.

He represented Puerto Rico at the FIBA World Cup 2023 Americas Qualifiers last year, where his stats were as follows: 2 games played, averaging 11.5 points per game, 3.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, and 1.0 spg.

He has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from his time playing in these various countries and leagues. He has adapted to different styles of play, learned from different coaching philosophies, and faced off against some of the best players in the world. This has made him a versatile and well-rounded player, capable of thriving in any basketball environment. Among the many awards he has won, he clinched the Kuwait League championship title in 2022. In 2021, he was honored with the Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Player of the Year award and the Afrobasket.com All-Egyptian Superleague Import Player of the Year award. This season could potentially be one of his last in his illustrious career, as he contemplates ending it at Ahly Tripoli.
He graduated from the University of Florida in 2009, and this is his 15th season in professional basketball.
