LUB Round 16: Goes defeat Urunday in the closest game of the week- December 15, 2019
There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Hebraica - Trouville 90-99 LUB top team - Trouville (10-3) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Hebraica (7-6) in Montevideo 99-90. Trouville players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a very good performance for forward Anthony Danridge (196-86, college: N.Mexico) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 9 assists. Center Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: GVSU) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Trouville's coach German Fernandez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Winsome Frazier (193-82, college: Mississippi St.) replied with 24 points and power forward Dallis Joyner (203-90, college: Stony Brook) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Hebraica. Five Trouville and four Hebraica players scored in double figures. Trouville have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-3 record. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: UC Riverside) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Manuel Romero (183-92) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Nacional players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Hernando Caceres (202-94, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 22 points and American center Ricardo Glenn (203-90, college: USC Upstate) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Nacional maintains sixth position with 8-6 record, which they share with Goes. Capitol lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of much higher ranked Urunday (8-5) to eighth ranked Goes (8-6) 91-89 on Tuesday evening. 28 personal fouls committed by Urunday helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds and American power forward Dallis Joyner (203-90, college: Stony Brook) who added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Eighth ranked Goes (8-6) saved a 1-point derby victory at home edging 6th ranked Nacional (8-6) 86-85 in the fight for the sixth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nacional. Goes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Nacional's 36 and made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Cameron Forte (201-93, college: Portland St.) who scored that evening 22 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Karachi Edo (196-94, college: Fresno St.) supported him with 11 points and 18 rebounds. Edo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: UC Riverside) did not help to save the game for Nacional.
