The Second Stage in LUB just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

First defeat of Defensor (0-1) against Malvin (1-0) 91-72 was the most important game of the last round. Malvin outrebounded Defensor 36-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Malvin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Marcos Cabot (180-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Forward Nicola Pomoli (195-99) contributed with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Malvin's coach Pablo Lopez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Defensor. Defensor will play next round against strong Olimpia trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena of Olimpia. Malvin will try to continue on its current victory against Trouville. It will be extra interesting game as Trouville is their local rival from Montevideo.

At the losing side American center Paul Harrison (204-89, college: N.Greenville) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Aguada's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Urunday.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of Nacional in a game in Montevideo versus undefeated Olimpia (#5) 105-102. Nacional was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Reque Newsome nailed 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Hatila Passos came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for Nacional in the defeat. Olimpia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Defensor.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Bigua (#3) and Goes (#4). Bigua (1-0) crushed visiting Goes (0-1) by 21 points 88-67. Josimar Ayarza fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bigua's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Capitol.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Trouville (#6) and Hebraica (#2). Trouville (1-0) won against visiting Hebraica (0-1) 89-76. It was a very good performance for Jarred Shaw who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds. Trouville's coach German Fernandez let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Trouville's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Malvin.

In the last game of round 1 winless Sayago lost to undefeated Urunday on the road 78-94.



Aguada - Capitol 99-69

Bigua dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Goes' 24. Panamanian forward Josimar Ayarza (205-87, college: S.Mississippi) fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Bigua players scored in double figures. Point guard Fernando Martinez (173-79, agency: Pro Sports) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Marvin Phillips (201-83, college: Claflin) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Urunday used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Sayago 94-78 on Thursday night. They outrebounded Sayago 46-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward Shaquille Johnson (191-90, college: Marshall) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Forward Tyrone Lee (206-90, college: GVSU) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Center Gilbert Talbot (208-94, college: LSUA) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Sayago.
