LUB Round 2 (Second Stage): Bigua is defeated by Capitol- March 4, 2020
There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in LUB. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team and derby games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.
Bigua - Capitol 81-85 The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Bigua (1-1) in Montevideo on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by Capitol (1-1) 85-81. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Capitol looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Paul Harrison (204-89, college: N.Greenville) scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Martin Trelles (187-96) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and forward Demian Alvarez (193-84, agency: Pro Sports) scored 16 points. Five Capitol and four Bigua players scored in double figures. Goes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Sayago's 38. They outrebounded Sayago 45-33 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Goes looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Canadian center Joly Rudolphe (208-92, college: Sheridan JC) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Venezuelan swingman Pedro Chourio (186-90, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 26 points during the contest. Five Goes players scored in double figures. American center Gilbert Talbot (208-94, college: LSUA) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import swingman Shon Briggs (198-95, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 3 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Malvin (2-0) smashed visiting Trouville (1-1) by 16 points 99-83. Malvin made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Malvin outrebounded Trouville 44-24 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Naturalized German center Kiril Wachsmann (203-84, college: Iona) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Panamanian forward Michael Hicks (196-76, college: Texas A&M-CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Nacional (1-1) won against visiting Hebraica (0-2) 102-88. Nacional shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Dominique Morrison (198-89, college: ORU) scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Brazilian center Hatila Passos (211-85, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in 6 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Nacional players scored in double figures. Forward Gaston Semiglia (185-91) responded with 31 points and 5 assists and forward Federico Haller (200-88) scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. Olimpia (2-0) got a very close home victory over Defensor (0-2). Olimpia managed to escape with a 3-point win 75-72 on Tuesday evening. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: UW-Parkside) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Puerto Rican forward Johwen Villegas (194-85, college: FIU) chipped in 14 points. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Venezuelan forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Alejandro Acosta (189-89) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests.
