Casey Jones gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Metropolitan (Second Stage)- September 9, 2022
The 29-year old playmaker had a double-double of 25 points and ten rebounds, while his team outclassed U.Atletica (#6, 2-4) with 33-point margin 93-60. It allowed Colon to consolidate first place in the Uruguayan Metropolitan. Colon have a solid 5-1 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Colon's top player in his first season with the team. University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduate has very impressive stats this year. Jones is in league's top in points (5th best: 18.1ppg) and averages solid 1.8bpg and 50.2% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American center Chris Ware (203-C-1989) of Miramar. Ware impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Miramar was edged by the lower-ranked Verdirrojo (#12, 2-4) 95-92. This loss caused Miramar to drop to 4th position in the standings. His team's 3-3 record is not bad at all. Ware is a newcomer at Miramar and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was Argentinian Fabian Ramirez (200-F-1990) of second-ranked Cordon. Ramirez scored 23 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Cordon, leading his team to a 81-74 win against the lower-ranked Capitol (#5, 2-4). Cordon needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Ramirez has a very solid season. In 19 games in Uruguay he scored 15.6ppg. He also has 8.0rpg, 3.3apg and FGP: 67.7%. Other top performing players last week: 4.
