The most exciting game of round 23 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 3rd placed Hebraica (12-9) to first ranked Bigua (15-4) 88-86 on Saturday evening. Bigua made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American Donald Sims (190-1987, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) who scored 41 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Brazilian center Luis Santos (194-1994) chipped in 11 points and 18 rebounds. Naturalized Italian point guard Luciano Parodi (182-1994) produced 20 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Bigua have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-4 record. Hebraica at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Gelvis Solano contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American power forward Franklin Hassell (203-1988, college: ODU) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for Hebraica. Aguada maintains third place with 14-9 record behind leader Bigua. Hebraica at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Aguada's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo .

It was a great evening for Donald Sims who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 4 assists. Brandon Nazione responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Nacional's coach Gonzalo Fernandez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bigua have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-4 record. Loser Nacional keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Defensor. Bigua's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Trouville.

Other games of round 23 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Malvin defeated L.Borges in Montevideo 105-100. Urupan were smashed by Goes at home 69-101. Bottom-ranked Olimpia won against Malvin on the opponent's court 95-90. Trouville unfortunately lost to Aguada in a home game 65-76. L.Borges recorded a loss to Urunday on the road 66-73. Nacional were defeated by Defensor on its own court 72-85.
The best stats of 23th round was 14 points and 12 rebounds by Quintrell Thomas of Defensor.



Aguada - Hebraica 75-68

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Montevideo: Aguada (#3) and Hebraica (#3). Aguada (14-9) won against visiting Hebraica (12-9) 75-68. Strangely Hebraica outrebounded Aguada 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. There was no surprise in Montevideo where 11th ranked L.Borges (8-14) were defeated by fifth ranked Malvin (12-11) 105-100 on Tuesday. Malvin shot 61.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American Daniel Hamilton (201-1995, college: UConn) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Naturalized German Kiril Wachsmann (203-1984, college: Iona) helped adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American Akia Pruitt (203-1997, college: UNCP) responded with 27 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Mauro Zubiaurre (189-1994) scored 21 points. Five Malvin and four L.Borges players scored in double figures. Malvin have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 12-11 record. L.Borges lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Urunday. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Goes (14-8) smashed on the road 10th ranked Urupan (8-13) 101-69 on Thursday. They outrebounded Urupan 49-30 including a 39-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Goes looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Urupan's players. It was a great evening for Venezuelan center Windi Graterol (204-1986, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Venezuelan point guard David Cubillan (181-1987, college: Marquette) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Goes players scored in double figures. Hernando Caceres (202-1994) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Donald Robinson (192-1989, college: WVU Tech) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
