Miramar - Colon 56-72 There was no surprise in Montevideo where 16th ranked Miramar (2-10) was defeated by twelfth ranked Colon (5-7) 72-56 on Tuesday. Colon dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Miramar's 28. Colon forced 20 Miramar turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Jamal Bieniemy (196-1999, college: UTEP) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. His fellow American import power forward Quinterian McConico (203-1995, college: AAMU) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Colon players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Damian Blazina (186-1988) with 16 points and Facundo Villalba (190-2002) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. Colon moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with O.Mundial. Miramar lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Verdirrojo made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Tabare 47-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Robert Whitfield (190-1997, college: UMKC) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Power forward Alfonso Arrillaga (195-1996) helped adding 9 points and 12 rebounds.
