Curry number one in Uruguay LUB for round 15 (by Hoops Agents)

American Guard Malik Curry (184-G-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 24-year old player tried to help (33 points, two rebounds and five assists) his team in a lost game to Hebraica (7-6) 78-84. Defensor moved-up to the 5th position in Uruguayan LUB. Defensor is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 6th lost game this season out of 13 games. Curry turned to be Defensor's top player in his first season with the team. Former West Virginia University star has very solid stats this year. Curry is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.4ppg. Curry is in league's top in assists (7th best: 4.6apg).

The second best player in last round's games was young Juan Zanotta (185-G-1995) of league's second-best Club Atletico Penarol Montevideo. Zanotta had a very good evening with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course he led Penarol to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Urupan (#11, 4-10) 90-64. This victory allowed Penarol to move up to second position in the standings. His team lost just two games this season, while they won 9 matches. Zanotta is one of the most experienced players at Penarol and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Colombian guard Alvaro Pena (197-SG-1995) of Urupan de Pando (#11). Pena scored 14 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). Despite Pena's great performance Urupan lost 64-90 to the higher-ranked Penarol (#2, 9-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Urupan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-10 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Pena has a very solid season. In 7 games in Uruguay he scored 9.1ppg.
