Vargas' double-double lands him (Second Stage) Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

35-year old Dominican Rep. center Eloy Vargas (211-C-1988, agency: BIG) put on an amazing game in the last round for second-ranked Club Atletico Penarol Montevideo and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7 (Second Stage).
He had a double-double of 19 points and 16 rebounds, while his team crushed Hebraica (#5, 15-10) with 25-point margin 99-74. Penarol maintains the 2nd position in Uruguayan league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Penarol will need more victories to improve their 20-6 record. Vargas turned to be Penarol's top player in his first season with the team. Eloy Vargas averages this season 12.3ppg and 13.3rpg.

Second best performed player last round was Daniel Hamilton (201-SG-1995) of Places 7-12 top-ranked Malvin Montevideo. He is American guard in his first season at Malvin. In the last game Hamilton recorded an impressive double-double of 29 points and 15 rebounds. Of course he led Malvin to another comfortable win 93-78 over the lower-ranked Urupan (#11, 8-20) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Malvin still keep the league's top spot. His team has currently 15-13 record. Hamilton is a newcomer at Malvin and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.4ppg (#7). His other stats are also decent: 8.3rpg and 5.8apg.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Miguel Simon (203-F-1994, agency: BMS Sport Agency) of Urupan de Pando (#11). Simon scored 26 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Simon's great performance the Urupan lost 78-93 to the higher-ranked Malvin (#7, 15-13). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Urupan can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 8-20 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Simon has individually a great season in Uruguay. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.8ppg (5th best) and rebounds with 12.5rpg (2nd best).
