29-year old Dominican Rep. forward Miguel Simon (203-F-1994, agency: BMS Sport Agency) had a very impressive game in the last round for Urupan de Pando and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 10 (Second Stage). He had a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Bigua (#6, 14-17) 87-78. Urupan is placed at 4th position in Uruguayan league. Urupan is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 20th lost game this season out of 30 games. In the team's last game Simon had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He turned to be Urupan's top player in his first season with the team. ASA College Brooklyn graduate has very impressive stats this year. Simon is in league's top in points (5th best: 20.5ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 12.6rpg) and averages solid 58.0% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Josh Cunningham (203-F-1996) of Atletico Bigua Montevideo. He is American forward in his first season at Bigua. In the last game Cunningham recorded an impressive double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Bigua lost that game 78-87 to the bottom-ranked Urupan (#10, 10-20). Bigua are still at the very bottom. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 14-17 record. Cunningham is a newcomer at Bigua and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#9). He also registered 8.1 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Eric Anderson (204-F/C-1993) of Nacional De Futbol Montevideo (#3). Anderson showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Nacional, leading his team to a 94-78 easy win against #2 ranked Penarol in a game of the week. Nacional needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 19 victories and 8 lost games. Anderson has a great season in Uruguay. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.6rpg (9th best). He also has 1.7bpg and a FGP of 58.5%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Franco Giorgetti (203-F-1992) of Nacional - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Mateo Sarni (185-PG-1998) of Urupan - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Dennis McKinney (194-G/F-1998) of Cordon - 18 points and 6 rebounds 7. Shaquille Johnson (191-G-1990) of Penarol - 27 points and 2 rebounds 8. Jordan Mathews (191-SG-1994) of Nacional - 25 points and 2 rebounds 9. The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
