Fernando Verrone gets MVP of the Week award for Uruguayan Liga de Ascenso

Experienced Fernando Verrone (201-PF-1988) put on an amazing game in the last round for Larre Borges Montevideo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Liga de Ascenso Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 36-year old power forward had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds, while his team beat Verdirrojo (#5, 4-2) 88-79. L.Borges is placed at 4th position in Uruguayan Liga de Ascenso. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. L.Borges will need more victories to improve their 5-2 record. In the team's last game Verrone had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He just recently signed at L.Borges, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Fernando Verrone averages this season 16.1ppg and 8.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Panamanian power forward Ezequiel Bell (202-F/C-1999) of Capitol Montevideo. Bell impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Capitol lost that game 68-76 to the higher-ranked Marne (#8, 3-4). Capitol are still at the very bottom. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Capitol managed to get this year. Bell is one of the most experienced players at Capitol and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.9ppg (#1). He also registered 10.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Federico Haller (200-F-1988) of Verdirrojo Montevideo (#5). Haller scored 29 points and grabbed 16 rebounds (!!!). Despite Haller's great performance the Verdirrojo lost 79-88 to slightly higher-ranked L.Borges (#4, 5-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Verdirrojo needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Haller has a very solid season. In 2 games in Uruguay he scored 20.5ppg.
