The most exciting game of round 12 in the SPB took place in Caracas. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th ranked Spartans (5-4) to second ranked Marinos (7-3) 79-78 on Wednesday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Spartans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import swingman Wesley Saunders (196-1993, college: Harvard) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Marinos' coach Claudio Jorquera used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian-American Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Marinos maintains second position with 7-3 record behind leader Gaiteros. Spartans lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Trotamundos and Frontinos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Llaneros maintains fourteenth position with 1-8 record. Frontinos at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Trotamundos and Spartans. Llaneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
