LDD Round 3: Boca Jrs keep a leadership position

The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Boca Jrs defeated Olimpico in Buenos Aires 95-84. Boca Jrs dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpico's 42. They outrebounded Olimpico 43-16 including a 32-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Juan Contegrand who led his team to a victory with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Juan Guerrero contributed with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Boca Jrs' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Leon Luna (183-2) answered with 32 points, 5 assists and 5 steals for Olimpico. Olimpico will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Boca Jrs will try to continue on its current victory against Olimpico in La Banda.
San Lorenzo (3-1) recorded a loss in Almagra. Hosts were defeated by Argentino (2-1) 82-70. It was a great evening for guard Franco Montemagio (185-2) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Juan Ibarra helped adding 16 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Juan Ramayo with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentino will play against H.Americano (#19) in Rio Gallegos in the next round which should be an easy win for them. San Lorenzo will play at home against La Union (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game was also tough home loss of San Martin in a game in Corrientes versus undefeated Comunicaciones (#2) 95-81. It was an exceptional evening for Matias Nunez who led the winners and scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Rolando Vallejos came up with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds for San Martin in the defeat. San Martin's coach rotated twelve players saving starting five for next games. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: Penarol beat Atenas on the road 87-85. Winless La Union lost to Obras on its own court 97-100. Obera managed to outperform Quimsa in a road game 80-76. Winless H.Americano recorded a loss to Platense at home 54-57. Winless Ferro was defeated by Atenas on the opponent's court 90-84. Riachuelo LR beat Penarol in a home game 82-78. Comunicaciones won against Regatas on the road 71-65. Gimnasia managed to outperform Platense on its own court 66-62. Obras recorded a loss to San Martin in Corrientes 80-63. Olimpico was crushed by Obera at home 69-93. Winless Ferro was beaten by Instituto on the opponent's court 86-77.
The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by Felipe Rodriguez of FERRO.

Boca Jrs. - Olimpico 95-84

Ignacio Segura (195-0) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and Thiago Sucatsky added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Atenas in the defeat. Five Penarol and four Atenas players scored in double figures. Penarol will meet at home H.Americano (#19) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Atenas will play against Ferro (#20) in Buenos Aires and hope to win that game.

Very expected game when La Union (0-2) was edged by Obras (2-3) in Formosa 100-97 on Wednesday. Obras made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for forward Matias Von Schmeling (200-1) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Alejo Digon accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Agustin Sigel came up with 31 points and 8 rebounds and Marcos Gonzalez (197-0) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for La Union in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. La Union's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras will meet Obera (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Union will play against San Lorenzo (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
