A very close game took place in Comodoro Rivadavia between Gimnasia CR and Independ.O.. Tenth ranked Gimnasia CR (10-11) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Independ.O. (13-7). Gimnasia CR managed to escape with a 1-point win 77-76 on Tuesday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Natalio Santacroce who led the winners and scored 24 points. Gimnasia CR's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Exequiel Sanchez came up with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Independ.O. in the defeat. Gimnasia moved-up to ninth place. Loser Independ.O. keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Platense. Gimnasia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Independ.O. will play against Ferro (#7) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 27: Obras smashed Penarol on the road 74-54. Boca Jrs. won against Quimsa on its own court 83-76. Racing Ch. unfortunately lost to Obras in Buenos Aires 80-83. Platense recorded a loss to Quimsa at home 63-74.



Penarol - Obras 54-74

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Obras (16-3) crushed 14th ranked Penarol (7-13) in Mar del Plata 74-54 on Friday. Obras outrebounded Penarol 53-39 including a 37-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for center Elias Torrens (203-2008) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Power forward Valentino Finetti (204-2005) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Obras players scored in double figures. Power forward Martin Chapero (205-2007) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Gonzalo Aman (190-2008) added 18 points respectively for Penarol in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Obras. They maintain third place with 16-3 record having just three point less than leader La Union. Loser Penarol keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost.
