AmeriCup Centrobasket Qualifiers: Virgin Islands Blow Past El Salvador- July 14, 2026
POSTED BY: Eurobasket News
Whatever magic fueled El Salvador's dramatic overtime comeback against Guyana a day earlier was nowhere to be found this time. The Virgin Islands controlled this one from the opening tip, never trailing and outscoring El Salvador in every quarter on the way to an 84-47 win at the Polideportivo Alexis Arguello on July 13, 2026, closing the door for good with an 11-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters.
J-Naya Ephraim (175-G-2000, college: GMU) led the way with 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, and the supporting cast was just as sharp Lanese Bough (178-G-1993, college: Omaha) dished eight assists and grabbed eight rebounds, Anisha George (188-F/C-1998, college: N.Texas) anchored the paint with 13 rebounds and three blocks, and Naja Ngongba (183-F-2003, college: Radford) provided an efficient spark off the bench with 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. Liliana Alvarado (172-SF-1997)'s nine points were the best El Salvador could manage, a stark contrast to the heroics of Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-C-1994, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Dreamcatch Management)'s overtime winner just a day before, as this El Salvador side had no answer for the Virgin Islands' depth on either end. |
