LNB 2 Round 1: Arabe de Valp. lose to Manquehue

The Regular Season in LNB 2 just started. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Arabe de Valp. in Valparaiso on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Manquehue 80-66. Manquehue had a 39-26 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international Fernando Schuler (190-1991) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and Mauricio Serrano (-2001) chipped in 13 points and 18 rebounds. At the losing side Brazilian Pedro Soares (200-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Arabe de Valp.'s coach Claudio Quezada rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Manquehue is looking forward to face Sportiva Italiana in Valparaiso in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Arabe de Valp. will play at home against Stadio Italiano and is hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Sergio Ceppi and Brisas. Brisas were defeated at home 50-61 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The former international Julius Holt (187-85) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Boris Guerra accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds. Sergio Ceppi's coach Eduardo Sepulveda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Felipe Gutierrez (-1992) came up with 12 points and 9 rebounds for Brisas in the defeat. Sergio Ceppi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Boston College.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 1: winless Boston College lost to undefeated Manquehue on the opponent's court 63-68. Winless Boston College lost to undefeated Sportiva Italiana in a home game 71-75. Liceo Curico managed to beat Tomas L. on the road 77-73. Aleman defeated Espanol O. on its own court 80-74. Winless Brisas lost to undefeated Sportiva Italiana in Valparaiso 58-93. Winless Osorno lost to undefeated Liceo PN at home 68-87.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds by Cristian Amicucci of Liceo PN.

Manquehue - Boston College 68-63

Very expected game in Santiago where Boston College was defeated by Manquehue 68-63 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mauricio Serrano (-2001) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international Fernando Schuler (190-1991) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Ivan Pacheco (-1994) produced 21 points and the former international Marcelo Lopez (191-91) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Boston College's coach Patricio Miranda tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Manquehue will meet at home Sportiva Italiana in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Brisas' players. Alvaro Mesina (-2003) fired 21 points for the winners. The former international center Javier Barra (211-1997) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sportiva Italiana players scored in double figures. Cristhian Poleo (-1992) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and Rodolfo Ordonez (-1987) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sportiva Italiana will meet Manquehue in the next round. Brisas will play against Luis Matte and hope to win that game.

No shocking result in a game when Liceo PN outleveled on the road Osorno 87-68 on Sunday. Liceo PN dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Osorno's 34 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) fired a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds for the winners. Felipe Acuna (182-92) chipped in 7 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Argentinian forward Lucas Diaz (198-1992) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international center Carlos Aranda (200-1992) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Osorno players scored in double figures. Osorno's coach tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Liceo PN will meet at home Aleman in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Osorno will play against Espanol O. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
