LNB 2 Round 8: Stadio Italiano record their first victory

Stadio Italiano has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Luis Matte (4-6) on the road game in 78-62 on Saturday. Worth to mention a great performance of Cristian Urrutia (-1999) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds and Gaston Fernandez (-1999) who added 15 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Venezuelan Luis Adrian (-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Stadio Italiano (1-8) left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place. Luis Matte at the other side keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Stadio Italiano are looking forward to face higher ranked Arabe de Valp. (#5) in Valparaiso in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Luis Matte will play on the road against Brisas (#15) in Santiago and is hoping to win this game.

It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Osorno. The winners were led by Felipe Acuna (182-1992) who scored that evening 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Giglio Linfati supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Liceo PN's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by American center Travion Leonard (205-1993, college: Barry, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Osorno. Liceo PN have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-1 record, which they share with Sportiva Italiana. Osorno at the other side dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Bottom-ranked Municipal C. (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to eighth ranked Truenos (5-3) 87-70 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Ricardo Gomez who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Diego Fuentes produced 17 points and 8 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Truenos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Arabe de Valp. and Sergio Ceppi. Loser Municipal C. still closes the standings with eight games lost. Truenos will meet Tomas L. (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. In the last two games of round 8 Brisas was destroyed by Sergio Ceppi on the opponent's court 92-54. Sportiva Italiana outscored Boston College in a home game 84-53.

Sergio Ceppi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Brisas' 28. They outrebounded Brisas 42-19 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sergio Ceppi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Julius Holt (187-1985) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Boris Guerra (-1987) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds.
