LNB Round 6: Leader Los Leones get another victory

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Undefeated leader Los Leones delivered the fifth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they beat 10th ranked Puerto Montt (2-4) 91-76. Los Leones forced 19 Puerto Montt turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. Los Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. The former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian forward Facundo Gonzalez (-1999) who recorded 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Los Leones (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Puerto Montt at the other side keeps the tenth place with four games lost. They share the position with Las Animas. Los Leones are looking forward to face Catolica (#14) in Santiago in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Puerto Montt will play on the road against Ancud (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Bottom-ranked Temuco (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 91-70 loss to fourteenth ranked Las Animas (2-4) in Valdivia. It was a good game for American-Dominican center Justin Satchell (203-1995, college: St.Leo) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Cristian Amicucci contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Las Animas' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Uruguayan point guard Martin Perdomo (178-1995) replied with 24 points and 8 assists for Temuco. Las Animas moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Puerto Montt. Temuco at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Las Animas will play against higher ranked Espanol O. (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Temuco will play against Quilicura (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Valdivia (3-2) played at the court of fifth ranked Espanol O. (4-1). Espanol O. managed to secure a 9-point victory 100-91 on Sunday. Carlos Lauler scored 26 points and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Nicholas Wadell with 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Espanol O. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Valdivia dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with Puente Alto and Quilicura. Espanol O. will meet at home Las Animas (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valdivia will play against Puente Alto (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 6 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Tinguiririca was crushed by Puente Alto in a road game 87-68. Puerto Varas smashed Catolica at home 99-51. Castro lost to undefeated Concepcion on the opponent's court 74-87. Quilicura managed to outperform Espanol T. in a home game 78-64.
The best stats of 6th round was 18 points and 15 rebounds by Chris Perry of Quilicura.



Puente Alto - Tinguiririca 87-68

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Tinguiririca (1-4) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Puente Alto (3-2) 87-68 on Sunday. Puente Alto looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Dennis McKinney (193-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Marquez Letcher-Ellis (203-1997, college: Nevada) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) with 19 points and the former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Tinguiririca's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Puente Alto moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Valdivia and Quilicura. Loser Tinguiririca dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Puente Alto will meet Valdivia (#8) on the road in the next round. Tinguiririca will play against Espanol O. (#3) and hope to win that game.

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Puerto Varas (4-2) smashed at home 13th ranked Catolica (1-5) 99-51 on Sunday. Puerto Varas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Catolica's 30. They outrebounded Catolica 47-26 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Puerto Varas looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Catolica's players. American power forward Rasheed Worrell (203-1996, college: Lynn) had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Antonio Pinedo (195) chipped in 21 points during the contest. Worrell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Puerto Varas players scored in double figures. Coach Leonardo Monsalvez's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) with 10 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Pablo Allegrini (-2000) scored 13 points. Puerto Varas moved-up to fourth place. Loser Catolica dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. Puerto Varas will meet Castro (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Catolica will play against the league's leader Los Leones and hope to win that game.

Very expected game when 11th ranked Castro (1-3) was defeated on the road by top-ranked Concepcion (4-0) 87-74 on Sunday. Concepcion forced 19 Castro turnovers. The former international Kevin Rubio (192-2000) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Sebastian Carrasco (180-2000) chipped in 15 points and 4 steals during the contest. The best for the losing side was Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks and Vicente Guaico (-1994) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Concepcion have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 4-0 record behind leader Los Leones. Loser Castro dropped to the twelfth place with three games lost. Concepcion will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Castro will play against Puerto Varas (#4) and hope to win that game.

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Quilicura and 8th ranked Espanol T. had identical 2-2 record. This time Quilicura used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Talca 78-64 on Sunday night. Quilicura outrebounded Espanol T. 54-37 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) chipped in 26 points during the contest. Quilicura's coach used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games.
