LNB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 9 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Castro - Temuco 85-71 Very expected game when bottom-ranked Temuco (0-9) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Castro (4-4) 85-71 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Gabriel Hermosillas (202-1993) who scored 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Sean Lloyd (196-1996, college: SIU) chipped in 15 points. Castro's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Brazilian power forward Diego Dias Silva (207-1990) who recorded 22 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Pablo Campos (-2000) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Castro. They moved-up to ninth place. Temuco lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Ancud dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Valdivia's 36. Ancud forced 19 Valdivia turnovers and outrebounded them 42-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Valdivia was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) nailed a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) accounted for 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian Juan Manuel Rivero (191-1985) came up with 27 points and 9 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (181-1985) added 12 points and 12 assists respectively for Valdivia in the defeat. Four Ancud and five Valdivia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ancud. Puerto Montt made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-1992) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. American Reggie Baker (193-1993, college: BCU) chipped in 23 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and Cuban guard Adriano Barreras (186-1989) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively. Quilicura's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Puerto Montt maintains twelfth place with 3-7 record. Loser Quilicura dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They outrebounded Espanol T. 52-28 including a 40-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Los Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Espanol T.'s players. American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Tomas Alvarez (185-1989) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Los Leones players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Davon Haynes (203-1991, college: UAPB) scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Concepcion. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-0 record behind leader Los Leones. Loser Espanol O. dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Concepcion will meet Las Animas (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fifth ranked Puente Alto (6-3) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Puerto Varas (5-5). Puente Alto managed to escape with a 2-point win 93-91 on Saturday evening. Puente Alto looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Puente Alto made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Dennis McKinney (193-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) who scored 31 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Kevin Holston Jr (185-1998, college: FMU) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds.
