The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Catolica - Tinguiririca 90-70 No shocking result in a game when twelfth ranked Catolica (4-9) crushed 14th ranked Tinguiririca (2-11) in Santiago 90-70 on Friday. Catolica made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Catolica outrebounded Tinguiririca 42-28 including a 35-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Manny Payton (183-1997, college: FSU) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 5 assists. Forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) accounted for 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Payton is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Catolica players scored in double figures. Guard Matias Sepulveda (-1995) came up with 33 points (!!!) and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Catolica maintains twelfth place with 4-9 record. Tinguiririca lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Catolica will meet at home higher ranked Concepcion (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tinguiririca will play against Concepcion (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either. The former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 blocks and American swingman Sean Lloyd (196-1996, college: SIU) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Castro in the defeat. They outrebounded Catolica 42-31 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Los Leones players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a great evening for American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-1991, college: SMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). The former international forward Darrol Jones (193-1994) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Los Leones players scored in double figures.
