The most important game in the last round took place in Puente Alto between third ranked Ancud (12-5) and fourth ranked Puente Alto (11-6) on Friday night. Ancud was crushed by Puente Alto on the road 95-69. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Puente Alto had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Puente Alto made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Renato Munoz (-2003) who scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Marquez Letcher-Ellis (203-1997, college: Nevada) chipped in 13 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) who recorded 21 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Puente Alto have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 11-6 record. Ancud at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Carlos Milano contributed with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni replied with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for Tinguiririca. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Concepcion (17-0) have an impressive 17-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 17 victories in a row. Tinguiririca at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. Concepcion will play against Espanol T. (#13) in Talca in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Tinguiririca will play on the road against Puerto Varas and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Rest of the games of round 18 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Espanol O. defeated Castro in a road game 83-74. Bottom-ranked Temuco was smashed by Puerto Varas at home 59-100. Las Animas lost to Ancud on the opponent's court 80-84. Los Leones outscored Quilicura in a home game 98-76. Puerto Montt recorded a loss to Valdivia on the road 88-72. Catolica was defeated by Quilicura on its own court 90-102. Valdivia lost to undefeated Concepcion in a road game 72-91.



Castro - Espanol O. 74-83

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Castro (9-8) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Espanol O. (11-9) 83-74 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Espanol O. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Zurschmitten (183-1995) scored 25 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Anthony Lee (206-1991, college: Ohio St., agency: BIG) chipped in 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Espanol O.'s coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks and Gabriel Diaz (-1999) scored 12 points and 7 assists. Four Espanol O. and five Castro players scored in double figures. Espanol O. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Castro dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Quilicura. Espanol O. will meet at home Catolica (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castro will play against Quilicura (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Concepcion players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. Naylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Puerto Varas players scored in double figures.
