LNB Round 23: Leader Concepcion gets another victory- April 18, 2023
The round 23 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
Puerto Montt - Castro 65-107 The game with biggest result difference took place in Puerto Montt. Local Puerto Montt (7-16) was outscored by eighth ranked Castro (11-10) 107-65. Castro shot 64.1 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Castro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 blocks. Venezuelan Luis Merida (190) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Castro players scored in double figures. Forward Sebastian Gomez (-2000) answered with 14 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Josh Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Puerto Montt. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castro maintains eighth place with 11-10 record. Puerto Montt lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Castro will play against bottom-ranked Temuco (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Puerto Montt will play against Quilicura (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. (4-15) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked Espanol O. (13-12) 102-69. Espanol O. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Espanol T.'s 30. Espanol O. forced 21 Espanol T. turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. American forward DeAndre Daniels (206-1992, college: UConn, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Argentinian power forward Nicolas Gimenez (203-1994, agency: BIG) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian forward Lucas Cabanas added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Espanol T.Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Espanol O. moved-up to sixth place. Espanol T. lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Espanol O. will play against league's leader Concepcion on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Espanol T. will play against the league's second-placed Los Leones (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Tinguiririca's 52. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. American forward Shawn Glover (201-1990, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 5 assists. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni answered with 32 points and guard Felipe Gonzalez Flores (180-1994) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tinguiririca. Five Las Animas and four Tinguiririca players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Las Animas have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 15-8 record. Tinguiririca lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Las Animas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tinguiririca will play at home against Catolica (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. This time they crushed 12th ranked Catolica (6-16) 91-62. Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Venezuelan Carlos Milano (198) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Vicente Damianovic (-1997) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and American forward TJ Robinson (203-1989, college: LBSU) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-2 record. Catolica at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Concepcion are looking forward to face Espanol O. (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Catolica will play against Tinguiririca (#14) in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Argentinian point guard Rodrigo Gallegos (186-1991) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international Antonio Pinedo (195) answered with 24 points and the former international power forward Juan Fontena (196-1987) added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas' coach Leonardo Monsalvez rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ancud have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-5 record having five points less than leader Concepcion. Puerto Varas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Ancud will play against Valdivia (#7) on the road in the next round. Puerto Varas will play against Puente Alto and hope to get back on the winning track.
