LNB Round 25: Puente Alto lose to Puerto Montt

The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The game between third ranked Puente Alto (16-7) and twelfth ranked Puerto Montt (8-17) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Puente Alto was defeated by Puerto Montt in a tough game in Puente Alto 95-101. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Puente Alto. Puerto Montt looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200-1992) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American Reggie Baker (193-1993, college: BCU) contributed with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Dennis McKinney (194-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) answered with 31 points and 8 rebounds for Puente Alto. Puerto Montt maintains twelfth place with 8-17 record. Puente Alto at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Puerto Montt are looking forward to face higher ranked Las Animas (#5) in Valdivia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puente Alto will play at home against the league's leader Concepcion having rather not much hope for a victory.
LNB top team - Concepcion (22-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Las Animas (15-9) 86-81. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Las Animas. American forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Diego Silva chipped in 15 points. At the losing side Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Concepcion have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-2 record. Las Animas at the other side keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Concepcion will play against Puente Alto (#4) on the road in the next round. Las Animas will play against Puerto Montt and hope to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Quilicura between Quilicura and Puerto Varas. Ninth ranked Quilicura (12-10) got a very close home victory over 10th ranked Puerto Varas (11-14). Quilicura managed to escape with a 1-point win 75-74 on Sunday evening. Chris Perry nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Tomas Rossi came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for Puerto Varas in the defeat. Puerto Varas' coach Leonardo Monsalvez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quilicura moved-up to eighth place. Loser Puerto Varas keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Quilicura will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Puerto Varas will play against Espanol O. (#7) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 25 Los Leones smashed Tinguiririca on the road 98-58. Valdivia won against Castro on its own court 81-77.




Puente Alto - Puerto Montt 95-101

Quilicura - Puerto Varas 75-74

Argentinian Tomas Rossi (202) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and Uruguayan guard Martin Trelles (187-1996) added 12 points respectively for Puerto Varas in the defeat. Puerto Varas' coach Leonardo Monsalvez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quilicura moved-up to eighth place. Loser Puerto Varas keep the tenth position with 14 games lost. Tinguiririca - Los Leones 58-98

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Los Leones (19-4) crushed 14th ranked Tinguiririca (3-20) in San Fernando 98-58 on Sunday. Los Leones forced 24 Tinguiririca turnovers and outrebounded them 37-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Tinguiririca's players. American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and international forward Ignacio Carrion (201-1993) accounted for 9 points. The former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni came up with 25 points and center Sergio Chialva (-1994) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Los Leones maintains second place with 19-4 record having four points less than leader Concepcion. Tinguiririca lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. Los Leones will meet Castro (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tinguiririca will play against Temuco (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather expected game when 9th ranked Castro (11-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Valdivia (14-10) 81-77 on Sunday. American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (181-1985) accounted for 23 points. Argentinian forward Gabriel Hermosillas (202-1993) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Ecuadorian center Bryan Carabali (212-1999) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Castro in the defeat. Four Castro players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valdivia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 14-10 record. Loser Castro keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Valdivia will meet at home Espanol T. (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Castro will play against the league's second-placed Los Leones (#2) and hope to secure a win.
