Espanol maintains third place with 16-6 record having just two points less than leader Los Leones. Ancud lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 13 games lost. Espanol will play against Las Animas (#9) in Valdivia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ancud will play at home against Valdivia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Univ.Concepcion (18-4) against eleventh ranked Valdivia (5-17) on Friday night. Visiting Univ.Concepcion was defeated by Valdivia in a tough game in Valdivia 79-88. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Univ.Concepcion. Erik Carrasco nailed 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Diego Silva came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for Univ.Concepcion in the defeat. Valdivia maintains eleventh place with 5-17 record. Loser Univ.Concepcion keeps the second position with four games lost. Valdivia will meet higher ranked Ancud (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Sportiva Italiana was smashed by Univ.Catolica on the road 86-66. Las Animas lost to Puerto Varas on its own court 71-83. Puente Alto unfortunately lost to Espanol in Talca 78-83. Sportiva Italiana lost to defending champion Los Leones at home 84-90.
