LNB2 Round 8 (Regular Season): Huachipato hands first defeat to Puerto Montt

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNB 2. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Undefeated Puerto Montt (6-1) recorded its first loss on the court of fifth ranked Huachipato on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Huachipato 74-73. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Puerto Montt. The best player for the winners was center Marko Castro (192-1988) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Sixto Urrutia (-2005) chipped in 19 points. Huachipato's coach Gabriel Schamberger used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Colombian forward Leyder Moreno (195-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Huachipato maintains fifth position with 1-6 record. Puerto Montt at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. They share the position with Boston College. Huachipato are looking forward to face higher ranked Aleman (#3) in Puerto Varas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Puerto Montt will have a break next round.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Boston College (#1) and Sergio Ceppi (#4). Boston College (6-1) smashed visiting Sergio Ceppi (2-5) by 21 points 82-61. Antone Robinson orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Vicente Schulz contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Gabriel Hormazabal replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Sergio Ceppi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Boston College have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record, which they share with Puerto Montt. Sergio Ceppi at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Boston College's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Brisas.

Worth to mention a great performance of Andres Martinez who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds. Enrico De Paula responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Municipal C. maintains third position with 3-2 record having five points less than leader Illaplel. Constitucion lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Temuco and The Sharks. Municipal C. will meet at home league's leader Truenos in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Constitucion will play against Tinguiririca in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 8 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Omega defeated Aleman in a road game 72-67. Brisas were smashed by Luis Matte at home 60-82. Quilpue lost to Illaplel on the opponent's court 52-65. Arabe de Valp. managed to outperform The Sharks in a home game 83-75. Liceo Curico managed to beat Tinguiririca on the road 81-74.



Constitucion - Municipal C. 77-84

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in . Third ranked Municipal C. faced one of their biggest challengers Constitucion. Guests from (3-2) defeated host Constitucion (2-4) 84-77. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Andres Martinez (-1987) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and Patricio Penaloza (-2000) who added 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Brazilian power forward Enrico De Paula (205-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and David Gonzalez (180-1986) scored 21 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Francisco Pavez (178-1992) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Ecuadorian power forward David Aparicio (-2001) who added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Omega players scored in double figures. Forward Jose Campos (-2002) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Francisco Saravia (-2008) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Aleman's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Omega maintains second position with 4-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Illaplel. Loser Aleman keeps the third place with three games lost. Omega will meet at home Temuco (#4) in the next round. Aleman will play against Huachipato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Santiago where second ranked Luis Matte (4-2) smashed 5th ranked Brisas (1-5) 82-60 on Saturday. Luis Matte outrebounded Brisas 45-34 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Luis Matte looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Eddison Gomez (-2003) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Boris Guerra (-1987) who added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Luis Matte players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Luis Cuttis (-1995) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Dhuball Jara scored 4 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Luis Matte maintains second position with 4-2 record having just three points less than leader Illaplel, which they share with Liceo Curico. Loser Brisas keep the fifth place with five games lost.
