Group ABrazil - USA 59-80The USA claimed the second straight victory at the championship. They drubbed Brazil to remain undefeated. Lauren Cox (193-F-98) came up with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The North American side built a comfortable 42:30 halftime lead. They boosted the gap at 17-point mark heading into the fourth term and never looked back en route to the victory. Chennedy Carter (175-G/F-98) tossed in 12 points for the winners. Raphaella Da Silva (186-C-99) responded with 25 points and 11 rebounds for Brazil. Guatemala - Venezuela 57-82 Venezuela coasted past Guatemala for the first victory in Valdivia. Dayenlys Veliz (179-C-00) stepped up with 19 points to lead the winners. Venezuela piled up a 43:29 halftime lead. They outscored Guatemala in the next two periods and marched to the victory. Luisanny Zapata (165-SG-1) provided 14 points for the winners. Ashley Rosales (173-G-98) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Guatemala. Group BCanada - Chile 88-39Canada registered the second consecutive victory in Valdivia. They rallied past Chile in Group B action. Mikaela Brewer (178-G/F-98, college: CAN NT U16) totaled 22 points to lead the North American side. Canada rolled to a comfortable 48:22 halftime lead. They held their opponents to just 17 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Alyssa Jerome (185-C-99) posted 15 points and 10 rebounds for Canada. Constanza Antero (169-PG-98) responded with 7 points for Chile. Puerto Rico - Mexico 72-71 Puerto Rico snatched a narrow victory over hosting Mexico to improve at 2-0 record on top of Group B. India Pagan (187-C-99) came up with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners. Mexico stormed to a 14:7 lead after ten minutes. But Puerto Rico picked up the tempo in the next two quarters. They denied the deficit and spurred ahead for a 3-point lead at the final intermission. Mexico outscored their opponents in the fourth term but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Giolibeth Perez (167-PG-98) dropped 17 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds for Puerto Rico. Nohemi Rosales (175-PF-98) responded with 19 points for the hosts. |
