Canada and USA to clash for title in Valdivia

SEMIFINALS
Canada - Brazil 58-52
Canada will play for the title in Valdivia. They held off Brazil in the semifinal clash. Alyssa Jerome (185-C-99) provided 16 points and 12 rebounds to pace the winners. Brazil got to the better start. The Latin American team accumulated a 30:22 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 11-point mark heading into the fourth frame. But Canada bounced back in the final period. They ignited a 22:5 run in the fourth quarter and cruised to the win. Hailey Brown (185-F-99, college: CAN NT U16) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds for Canada. Raphaella Da Silva (186-C-99) responded with 18 points and 14 rebounds for Brazil.

USA - Puerto Rico 104-36
The USA eased into the Final in Valdivia. They stormed past Puerto Rico in the semifinal clash. The USA cruised to a 48:17 halftime lead. They followed with a furious 56:19 rally in the second half and coasted to the victory. Six players scored in double digits for the winners. Chennedy Carter (175-G/F-98) provided 17 points for the USA. Sidney Cooks (193-F-98) added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Angelique Rodriguez (180-F-99) responded with 15 points for Puerto Rico.
5-8 Place
Venezuela - Chile 49-54
Montserrat Arcos (170-SF-98) posted 16 points to lead Chile past Venezuela in the classification round. Chile jumped to a 15:13 lead after ten minutes. But Venezuela quickly erased the deficit for a 29:26 halftime lead. They extended the gap at 6-point mark heading into the fourth quarter. However Chile went on a 19:8 rally in the fourth frame and sealed the victory. Vanessa Medina (168-SF-99) netted 9 points for the winners. Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-99) responded with 9 points for Venezuela.

Mexico - Guatemala 65-38
Mexico outgunned Guatemala in the classification round clash. The hosts dominated throughout the bigger part of the game. Mexico established a 15:3 lead after ten minutes. They went on a 31:5 run in the third term to clear off for good. Ornella Rivera (170-G-98) and Nohemi Rosales (175-PF-98) finished with 10 points each for the winners. Nathaly Pinelo (167-PG-99) responded with 12 points for Guatemala.
