They outrebounded Mazatlan 39-26 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Makhi Mitchell (206-2000, college: Arkansas) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The game in Culiacan was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (15-17) played at the court of seventh ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (16-20). Caballeros de Culiacan managed to secure a 7-point victory 89-82 on Tuesday. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for Roddy Peters who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists. Kwame Alexander responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Culiacan moved-up to sixth place. Los Mochis at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 17 games lost. Culiacan will meet Toros (#8) in the next round. Los Mochis will play against Obregon in Ciudad Obregon and hope to secure a win.
