LSB Round 14 (Regular Season): Real Esteli beat Costa Caribe by two after a very close game

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LSB took place in Managua. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Costa Caribe (6-9) to fourth ranked Real Esteli (8-7) 102-100 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Costa Caribe. Real Esteli shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Real Esteli made 7 blocks. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU, agency: Allstars Agency) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. replied with 39 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for Costa Caribe. Real Esteli maintains fourth position with 8-7 record. Costa Caribe at the other side keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Real Esteli are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Tigres (#7) in Corinto in the next round. Costa Caribe will have a break next round.
An interesting game for Flecheros (10-5) which hosted in 4th ranked Real Esteli (8-7). Second ranked Flecheros had an easy win 82-60. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Denis Perez chipped in 23 points during the contest. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU, agency: Allstars Agency) responded with 10 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Flecheros maintains second position with 10-5 record having just three points less than leader Jaguares. Real Esteli at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Flecheros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Real Esteli will play on the road against Tigres (#7) in Corinto and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Jaguares (13-2) which played road game in Jinotega against 3rd ranked Brumas (8-5). First ranked Jaguares managed to get a 11-point victory 95-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Brumas. Luis Lopez notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds by Troy Andrews did not help to save the game for Brumas. Brumas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jaguares maintains first position with 13-2 record. Loser Brumas keep the third place with five games lost. Jaguares' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Managua to the arena Leones.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 14: Brumas smashed Leones on the road 108-70. Costa Caribe won against Tigres on its own court 110-101. Leones were outscored by Tigres in Corinto 121-77.
The most impressive performance of 14th round was 38 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by Ezequiel Colon of Tigres.




Flecheros - Real Esteli 82-60

An interesting game for Flecheros (10-5) which hosted in 4th ranked Real Esteli (8-7). Second ranked Flecheros had an easy win 82-60. Flecheros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Real Esteli's 28. Flecheros players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Real Esteli's players. American power forward Eden Ewing (204-1997, college: Texas Southern) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and chipped in 23 points during the contest. Five Flecheros players scored in double figures. American swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU, agency: Allstars Agency) responded with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991) scored 16 points. No shocking result in a game when third ranked Brumas (8-5) crushed 6th ranked Leones (4-11) in Managua 108-70 on Wednesday. Brumas dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Leones' 50. Brumas forced 26 Leones turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American center Tamell Pearson (208-1999, college: App State, agency: JCK Sports Group) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and supported him with 21 points and 4 assists. Brumas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by Venezuelan center Miguel Bolivar (205-1992) did not help to save the game for Leones. Herman Mullins added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brumas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-5 record having seven points less than leader Jaguares. Leones lost sixth consecutive game. Costa Caribe's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 32 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists by Puerto Rican guard Ezequiel Colon (193-1999, college: Lehman) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Leslie Serrano added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the guests. Four Costa Caribe and five Tigres players scored in double figures. Costa Caribe have a solid three-game winning streak.
