Guanare, Portuguesa.- The NT of Venezuela, under coach Carlos Gil , and Brazil won their respective groups of the first round with undefeated records of 3-0, by winning against Argentina and Ecuador, respectively. Uruguay had to suffer and come back from a bad start to earn the fourth and final spot to the Semifinals over Chile, who will now fight for fifth place against Peru, a team that surprised Colombia.
