Chile celebrate Gold in Lima

Chile claimed the South American U17 title. They knocked down heavy favorites Argentina in the championship game in Lima. Kevin Rubio (189-G-00) provided 22 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. Argentina jumped to a 21:13 lead after ten minutes. But Chile bounced back with a 23:14 run in the second term to gain a 36:35 halftime lead. Chile limited Argentina to just 9 points in the third term to open a 6-point lead. Chile sank 20 points in the final period to rally to the victory. Lino Saez (195-F-77) had 16 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Leandro Bolmaro (198-F-00) responded with 16 points for Argentina.

3-4 Place

Ecuador - Colombia 80-63
Ecuador stepped onto the pedestal in Lima. They toppled Colombia to claim the Bronze medals. Michael Moncayo (00) provided 27 points to lead the winners. Ecuador grabbed a 25:11 lead after ten minutes. Ecuador followed with an 18:9 rally to clear off for good. Edward Sanchez (188-G-00) finished with 17 points for the winners. Juan Pablo Cardona (190-G-00) responded with 19 points for Colombia.
