South American U17 Championship was open by the game of Brazil U17 and Colombia U17. Brazil, being more experienced in the continent smashed the opponent 110-60 to take 1-0 record.
In the beginning of the game both teams stayed close until 11-6 score. The favorites produced 11-0 run later and went on a big lead. Brazil had 27:13 at the end of the opening frame and looked more confident in the court. Brazil nailed 34 points in the second quarter that became the most productive for the winners. A 34-19 in it gave them 61:32 advantage at the halftime.
Led by Victor Lopez, Colombians tried harder in the second half but could not match the favorites. Rossetto De Oliveira Davi and Prado Cunha Durval Alves were the top-scorers for Brazil and remained the team in front. The third quarter brought 24-13 for the winners that improved to 85:45 after 30 minutes of the game. It was not a big deal to finish the opener with a win as Brazil added 25-15 in the fourth period to seal the winning outcome.
Rossetto De Oliveira Davi led the winners with 14 points, while Prado Cunha Durval Alves nailed 13. Raul Togni (184-G-92) delivered 11 as well as Rodrigues Erick that also added 6 rebounds. Parisotto Icaro, Amarante Nogueira Lucas Riva,Taddei Felipe and Vezaro Felipe each score 9 points. Victor Lopez shined for Colombian squad with 30 points and 2 rebounds. Mc.Lean Dawkins John - Edmund and Cortes Salazar Edwin ended up with 7 points apiece.

Venezuela-Chile 73:65
Venezuela edged Chile 73:65 in the second game of the South American U17 Championship. It was a tough game for the winners, however trailing 8 points at the halftime, Venezuela grabbed the win in the opener.
The game between Venezuela and Chile became the top one of Day 1. Chile did not mind taking the lead in the opening quarter and produced 20:17 in it. In order not to slow down Chile kept the tempo in the game and added 16-11 in the second period. Led by an outstanding game from Franco Morales (179-G-92), Chile improved to 36:28 at the halftime.
The second half however belonged to the second team of the previous South American U17 Championship, Venezuela.The team still remembers a 55-61 loss from Argentina in the Final and hopes to reach the top places this year as well. Venezuela reacted in the third quarter finishing tied at 53. Right after that the team created a 9-1 run to have a 67:59 edge with less than two minutes left. Led by Alexander Morillo, Anthony Joseph Perez and Junior Jose Martinez Venezuela grabbed the win in the opener.
Alexander Morillo top-scored for the winners with 15 points, while Anthony Joseph Perez and Junior Jose Martinez added 11 each. Acosta La Guerre Abrouse Laromie scored 9 in a win and Silvera Castro Jose Gregorio posted 8. Franco Morales ended up with 27 points for Chile, while Piero Simonetti Pereira poured in 14.
