Argentina - Ecuador 98-31
Argentina demolished Ecuador at the start of their U17 South American Championship campaign. The hosts led from start to finish to earn the opening victory in Chaco. Lisandro Fernandez (190-PG-98) came up with 16 points to pace the winners. Argentina built a massve 53:22 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Matias Solanas (192-G-98) added 13 points in the victory. Jordan Cardenas responded with 10 points for Ecuador.

Uruguay - Chile 57-58 OT
Chile earned the opening victory at the U17 South American Championship. They nipped Uruguay in overtime. Santiago Soulodre scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for the winners. Uruguay enjoyed a 5-point lead heading into the fourth frame. But Chile denied the deficit and forced overtime. They sank 11 points in the extra period and sealed the win. Felipe Haase (201-F-98) netted 17 points in the victory. Martin Rojas (196-PF-98) responded with 18 points and 16 rebounds for Uruguay.

Group B
Colombia - Venezuela 77-92
Venezuela earned the second victory at the tournament. They beat Colombia for 2-1 record in Group B. Ernesto Hernandez (F) delivered 21 points to pace the winning side. Colombia accounted for a 45:41 halftime lead. But Venezuela unleashed 51 points in the second half and marched to a tough victory at the end. Asa Acosta (G) delivered 19 points for the winners. Soren De Luque responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Colombia.

Brazil - Peru 80-67
Brazil held off Peru to improve at 2-0 record on top of Group B. Rafael Munford stepped up with 18 points to pace the winning side. Peru enjoyed a 38:37 halftime lead. They extended the margin at 2-point mark at the final break. But Brazil sank 30 points in the fourth quarter and sealed the victory. Michael Somutochukwu finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Juan Venegas responded with 18 points for Peru.
