Group A
Chile - Peru 100-35
Chile rallied past Peru to open win count in Lima. Chile stunned the hosts with a 42:19 first half run. They followed with a 27:3 run in the third term to clear off for good. Maxwell Lorca-Lloyd (208-F-00) posted 19 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Sebastian Contreras (182-PG-00) had 12 points in the win. Luis Rodriguez (178-G-00) responded with 24 points for Peru.

Colombia - Venezuela 59-58
Colombia held off Venezuela for the opening victory in Group A. Octavio Munoz (178-PG-01) recorded 16 points to lead the winners. Venezuela registered a 28:25 halftime lead. But Colombia spurred ahead in the third term to ensure a 2-point lead at the final intermission. Colombia managed to hold on to the lead and ensured the winning outcome. Juan Pablo Cardona (190-G-00) provided 13 points in the victory. Fernando Fyenmayor responded with 13 points and 13 rebounds for Venezuela.

Group B
Argentina - Paraguay 77-43
Argentina cruised past Paraguay for 2-0 record in Group B. Leandro Bolmaro (198-F-00) delivered 14 points to lead the effort. Argentina accumulated a 28:19 halftime advantage. They used a 21:11 run in the third term to clear off for good. Francisco Farabello (188-G-00) delivered 12 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds in the victory. Fabricio Ruiz (187-G-02) and Jose Rolon (00) answered with 8 points apiece for Paraguay.

Uruguay - Ecuador 52-58
Ecuador upset Uruguay to ensure the opening victory in Lima. Edward Sanchez (188-G-00) scored 14 points to lead the winners. Uruguay accounted for 25:24 halftime lead. Ecuador however sank 34 points in the second half and got away with the victory. Luis Riascos (193-F/G-00) tossed in 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the win. Franco Villalba responded with 14 points for Uruguay.
