Ecuador - Brazil 43-90
Brazil clinched the first win in Santiago. They overcame Ecuador to open win count in Group B. Brazil piled up a 48:20 halftime lead. They dropped 42 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Gui Carvalho (197-F-02) produced 14 points, while Augusto Cruz (02) added 13 points in the victory. Abraham Barahona (193-F-03) responded with 15 points for Ecuador.

Colombia - Venezuela 52-92
Venezuela stormed past Colombia to register the first win at the championship. Beiker Barrios (193-F/G-02) came up with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the winners. Venezuela accumulated a 55:19 halftime lead. They dropped 37 points in the second half to march to the victory. Andres Marrero (186-F-02) finished with 16 points for Venezuela. Gilbert Gutierrez (02) answered with 14 points for Colombia.

Uruguay - Argentina 63-73
Argentina outgunned Uruguay for 2-0 record in Group A. It was a slow start for both teams as Argentina led by one 6-5 after ten minutes. Uruguay picked up the tempo in the second quarter to sink 23 points and gain a 28:24 halftime lead. But Argentina finally tuned in offensively after the long break. They erupted for 49 points in the second half to snatch the victory. Fabio Gauto (190-SG-02) accounted for 22 points, while Franco Mendez (188-SG-02) added 13 points in the win. Santiago Corbo (185-SG-02) answered with 17 points for Uruguay.
