Argentina and Brazil advance into title game in Santiago

Five players scored in double digits to lead Argentina past Ecuador in the first semifinal clash in Santiago. Argentina claimed a 54:23 halftime lead. They added 48 points in the second half to ease to the win. Federico Copes (199-F/G-02) delivered 19 points, while Fabio Gauto (190-SG-02) added 16 points in the victory. Abraham Barahona (193-F-03) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Ecuador.

Brazil - Uruguay 72-63
Brazil advanced into the championship game in Santiago. They held off Uruguay in the semifinal clash. Brazil trailed by two points at the first break. But they went on a 28:9 run in the second term to surge ahead for a 17-point halftime lead. Uruguay pulled within 9 points at the final intermission. But Brazil held their opponents to just 15 points in the fourth stanza to race the win. Gui Carvalho (197-F-02) produced 20 points, while Adyel Pereira (185-PG-02) had 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Nicolas Bessio (188-PG-03) and Agustin Ubal (197-G-03) answered with 14 points each for Uruguay.

5-6 Place

Venezuela - Chile 87-74
Venezuela clinched the fifth position at the championship. They outgunned Chile on Friday. Venezuela recorded a 53:35 halftime lead. Venezuela sank 34 points in the second half to race to the win. Andres Marrero (186-F-02) notched 20 points, while Luis Betancourt (175-G-02) and Diego Machin (02) added 17 points each in the victory. Felipe Inyaco (192-PG-02) responded with 19 points for Chile.
