Aguada - Malvin 56-83 An interesting game for Malvin (4-0) which played road game in Aguada against Aguada (2-2). Malvin had an easy win 83-56. Malvin dominated down low during the game scoring 36 of its points in the paint compared to Aguada's 16. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Carolina Fernandez (186-2003) accounted for 17 points and 12 assists for the winning side. Five Malvin players scored in double figures. Malvin's coach Juan Serdio felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian Jacqueline Soto came up with 14 points and point guard Josefina Zeballos (173-2003) added 14 points respectively for Aguada in the defeat. Malvin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Hebraica. Hebraica was defeated at home 63-70 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. 25 de Agosto forced 19 Hebraica turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Catalina Pereira (176-2004) who led her team to a victory with 26 points and 5 steals. Argentinian guard Candela Foresto (163-1999) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four 25 de Agosto players scored in double figures. 25 de Agosto's coach Juan Loureiro used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Abril Ramirez (167-2000) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Romina Dalesandro (157-2003) added 8 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Hebraica. 25 de Agosto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Yale. Urunday forced 43 Juventud turnovers and had a 24-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Rocio Mott (169-1992) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Mariana Garcia (-2005) accounted for 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Forward Karina Acosta (-1986) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and Carolina Batista added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Juventud in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Urunday will meet at home Remeros (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Juventud will play against Lagomar in Montevideo and hopes to get finally their first victory. Yale was defeated at home 67-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. D.Sporting forced 29 Yale turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Joaquina Gregorio (168-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Pierina Rossi (171-2004) helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five D.Sporting players scored in double figures. D.Sporting's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Luciana Chagas (174-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. D.Sporting will play against Aguada at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
