Liga Femenina Round 3 (Second Stage): Derby game ends with 25 de Agosto's defeat of Hebraica

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: 25 de Agosto (#6) and Hebraica (#5). Hebraica was defeated at home 63-70 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. 25 de Agosto forced 19 Hebraica turnovers. It was a good game for swingman Catalina Pereira (176-2004) who led her team to a victory with 26 points and 5 steals. Argentinian guard Candela Foresto (163-1999) contributed with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. 25 de Agosto's coach Juan Loureiro used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Abril Ramirez (167-2000) answered with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds for Hebraica. 25 de Agosto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Yale.
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo: D.Sporting (#4) and Yale (#3). Yale was defeated at home 67-71 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It was a great evening for guard Joaquina Gregorio (168-2001) who led her team to a victory scoring 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Pierina Rossi helped adding 15 points and 7 rebounds. D.Sporting's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. D.Sporting will play against Aguada at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yale's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena 25 de Agosto.
An interesting game for Malvin (4-0) which played road game in Aguada against Aguada (2-2). Malvin had an easy win 83-56. It was an exceptional evening for Carla Miculka who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Malvin's coach Juan Serdio felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jacqueline Soto came up with 14 points for Aguada in the defeat. Malvin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Hebraica.

In the last game of round 3 winless Juventud was beaten by Urunday on the road 62-50.
