Gladiadores - Supersonicos 78-68 Everything could happen in Caracas at the game between two tied teams. Both first ranked Gladiadores and 3rd placed Supersonicos had identical 2-1 record. This time Gladiadores used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Margarita 78-68 on Tuesday night. Gladiadores had a 36-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international point guard Carlos Cedeno (193-85, college: Frank Phillips) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 assists for the winners and international swingman Raymond Rada (194-97) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. International center Windi Graterol (204-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international swingman Pedro Chourio (186-90) chipped in 18 points. Cocodrilos made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Taurinos turnovers. American point guard Greg Foster (190-89, college: SVSU) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international swingman Cesar Garcia (193-90) chipped in 16 points and 4 steals. Eduardo Diaz (205-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Emiro Hernandez (188-94) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. American-Mexican Durrell Summers (196-89, college: Michigan St.) answered with 24 points and Luis Germany (195-95) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Centauros. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Broncos moved-up to third place, which they share with Supersonicos. Trotamundos looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Llaneros' players. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gladiadores. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) who scored 23 points and 8 assists. Swingman Luis Duarte (190-94) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Jesus Martinez (206-86) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Jhon Romero (199-85) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Gladiadores players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Gladiadores at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Spartans. Gladiadores will play next round against strong Broncos trying to make it back to the top of the standings.
