Supersonicos - Gladiadores 84-80 There was a minor upset in Margarita where second-best Gladiadores (7-2) were defeated by fourth ranked Supersonicos (4-5) 84-80 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Tulio Cobos (197-86, college: Northeastern St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and American Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-93, college: FMU) who added 18 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was international swingman Raymond Rada (194-97) with 24 points and 7 rebounds and international swingman Jose Materan (196-96) scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gladiadores' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Supersonicos moved-up to third place. Loser Gladiadores keep the second position with two games lost. Supersonicos will meet league's leader Guaiqueries in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spartans made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Taurinos turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and international swingman Pedro Chourio (186-90) who added 9 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Gregory Curvelo (195-90) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and forward Jesus Rodriguez (200-93) scored 14 points. Heroes dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Trotamundos' 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Trotamundos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was swingman Kevin Nino (195-91) who scored 30 points. Guard Douglas Rondon (175-95) chipped in 9 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. It was a good game for the former international forward Jhon Romero (199-85) who led his team to a victory with 8 points and 8 rebounds. American-Mexican forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Windi Graterol (204-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-91) who added 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Carlos Rodriguez (206-89) with 5 points and 9 rebounds and forward Cristian Centeno (195-96) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Taurinos' players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Jovanni Diaz (203-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) who added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Gregory Curvelo (195-90) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Brandon Scott (180-95, college: USAO) scored 14 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cocodrilos maintains second position with 8-2 record having just two point less than leader Spartans. Taurinos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Heroes.
