El Salvador get closer to Centrobasket tournament

El Salvador successfully accomplished their mission of reaching the next stage of 2011 Centrobasket Tournament. They claimed the top position in 2011 COCABA Championship qualifying round overcoming Honduras and Costa Rica and advanced into the next round, which would take place in Pachuca, Mexico. El Salvador will play together with Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras for two tickets to Centrobasket tournament.
El Salvador overcame Costa Rica 56:47 in the decisive encounter at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena. The teams stayed close in the opening term. El Salvador managed to post a narrow 16:14 lead after ten minutes. They however stretched the distance to 6 points at the interval 31:25. El Salvador kept their opponents at distance posting a 45:39 lead with one quarter remaining. Costa Rica stayed in charge and rolled to the victory at the end. Gladis Maravilla (86) stepped up with 13 points to lead the effort. Lorena Simon contributed 10 points, while Monica Calderon added 9 in the win.
